This booklet recalls the way the dairy farmers in the district operated and how inventive the early settlers were. It tells how families could only earn a living by involving their children in the work on the farm. Often they were the ones who, not only had to bring in the cows to be milked, but from a young age it was also done by them.

The dairy farmers formed the first co-operative creamery in the Rosewood district and were able to sell their butter all the way to the London markets. Dairy farming declined when fewer men wanted to work on the farms after returning from the war.
